For the 12th straight year Chattanooga State will play the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T field in an exhibition game. This year’s game will be played April 4th at 6:15 p.m. “We encourage a large crowd for this event – this is a big part of our being able to hold this game every year,” head coach Greg Dennis said. “Our goal is to sell more than 1,500 tickets this year, so help us fill up the stadium to support our student-athletes,” All of the proceeds from the game go toward the Chattanooga State Athletic Department.
In the past 11 years Chattanooga State has always kept things close when playing vs the Lookouts. Last year The Tigers were able to hold the Lookouts to 1 hit through the first four innings. This year don’t expect anything else.
Chattanooga State is 21-13 on the season and sitting in 3rd place in their conference. Connor Morro is batting .417 with 13 extra-base hits, 21 RBIs and 30 runs scored, while Nico Lares, Tyler Maskill and Brody Thomasson are at .379, .358 and .340 with 32, 27 and 17 RBIs and 26, 28 and 35 runs. Freshman pitchers Joe Dalmolin and Scheldon Paulk are 5-1 and 4-0 with earned run averages of 1.88 and 3.73.
The pitching game was the strongest strength of Chattanooga State last season and I expect them to continue to ride on the arms of their young pitchers. Ultimately this game won’t matter on the record but this is a huge opportunity for the players. Win or lose this game will be full of fun and excitement for all the fans and players on both sides.
Tickets are available at Chattanooga State by calling Greg Dennis at 423-697-2418 or through the Lookout’s box office at the AT&T Stadium. Tickets also may be purchased on game night.
