The 2014 fall semester at Chattanooga State has officially begun, and what better way to celebrate a year full of success than with a glamorous bash curtesy of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.
Held on September 17th, and directed by Cosmetology instructor Brandy Krantz, the TCAT’s Beauty and Wellness Expo presented students with free massages, free manicures, free food, great entertainment and much more. Students in the Cosmetology, Aesthetics, and Massage Therapy programs fabulously showcased their work in a fun and fashionable way, and were in preparation for the expo all semester.
Chattanooga State student, Kennisha Morgan, who had received a massage stated, “I went and got a free massage, it was perfect and amazing, whoever taught my masseuse did a good job because I feel like I’m walking on air.”
Booths containing skin evaluations, manicure stations as well as a photo booth aligned the center ofthe Omniplex and made for a hot spot with good music and good company. Donald Rowe, a barber in the cosmetology program, contributed all the latest hits as the DJ and offered hilarious commentary. “Anything is possible,” he said, “TCAT is truly a no flex zone and we all just want to show everyone how hard we work.” Administrator of the expo, Brandy Krantz, stated, “I’m looking forward to everyone being able to see the student’s success and the talent we have from all the different TCAT programs.”
The grand finale included a fashion show, a collection that consisted of lively colors and exuberant creations from cosmetology students in the 1st and 2nd semester day shift, while vibrant hair and make-over alternations were on display from the night shift. Two different dance offs were also held, as well as gift certificates and a spa day given out as prizes.
In addition, The Tennessee College of Applied Technology offers cosmetology, aesthetics and massage services available Monday through Friday for a reasonable price.
