All across the United States, college students are becoming more active around their campus thanks to one program. This year, Chattanooga State Community College launched a brand new website cleverly titled ChattSync. This program is designed to help students easily communicate with organizations through an online medium. According to OrgSync, ChattSync’s parent platform, “OrgSync was founded in 2007 by former student leaders at the University of Texas and began out of a 5-bedroom house in Austin, TX. After years of frustrations running organizations on campus, Eric Fortenberry and Cayce Stone founded OrgSync to centralize everything a student organization would need to operate online. Communication, event planning and overall member engagement were challenging, and we knew there had to be a better way…” When I asked student Damian Goins about this program he said, “I think ChattSync is beneficial for our campus because it helps students get themselves out there and it helps them get into new organizations that they don’t know about. It also helps people already in organizations know about upcoming events.”

At this point in the year, many students don’t even know what ChattSync is or does. Dedric Maffett, the director of student activities and intramurals, is out to change that. In January, Student Life held a launch party for ChattSync in the café complete with a slew of computers, snacks, and drinks to encourage students to get signed up.

ChattSync makes campus discovery a breeze with all of their user-friendly features. Signing up only takes a minute or two, and then you are free to browse the plethora of clubs and organizations that our college has to offer.

If you are already signed up and in a club, communication within your organization is now easier than ever. You can post discussions, polls, videos, pictures, documents, and events with just a few pats on your trusty keyboard. There is even an instant messaging and text blast component perfect for the times when you need to spread word quickly.

ChattSync is now live and ready for you to sign up and get engaged with all that is happening around campus. If you have any questions about how to sign up or joining clubs, please contact Dedric Maffett at
